Boston Globe Photographer of the Week

Photographer of the Week

I am thrilled to report that I have been named the Photographer of the Week by the Boston Globe for my work with photographing New England's Colonial meetinghouses. Images from this project are contained in my new book A Space for Faith: The Colonial Meetinghouses of New England.

This can be viewed here: Photographer of the Week, and the Globe's samples of my work can be seen here: Photos in the Globe.

The announcement of the book was in my previous Newsletter #12.

More information about the book can be found on the book's web site.

Some nice early press, including reader comments, can be found here: Reviews and Kudos.

A short multi-media introduction to the photographs can be viewed here: Images. My photographs seek to convey my emotions about these places, and are in the permanent collections of the Boston Public Library and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, among others.

This book can be ordered on-line at my distributor's secure web site: Order Here.
Information about Deluxe and Collector's Editions can be found here: Ordering Options.

A great gift for anyone who loves New England history, classic black & white photography, or historic architecture!

This book has been produced with generous support from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Mass Humanities, and New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, who have made possible the $35 price - a really good deal for a book of this quality.

Lenswork Magazine I am honored to have 60 of my meetinghouse images, together with an audio interview, featured in Issue 90 (September/October 2010) of LensWork Extended, the DVD edition of LensWork Magazine.

In his introduction to the interview, Brooks Jenson, editor of LensWork, says: "Using the quiet and still approach that is so necessary with large-format photography and view cameras, it's a perfect match for the quiet stillness of these wonderful historic and religious spaces that served the earliest Americans so well as their space for faith."

A preview may be seen here: LensWork Extended Preview.

  • Featured Artist in View Camera Magazine:

View Camera Magazine Article I am also pleased to be featured in the July/August 2010 issue of View Camera Magazine.

In his accompanying article, Contributing Editor Eric Biggerstaff writes: "Paul Wainwright's photographic journey through time has helped create a lasting and important body of work. The Colonial meetinghouses will surely continue to stand for hundreds of years more, and Paul's elegant images will help convey the importance they have had in American history, and will help tell their story for generations that follow."
