The Interview Process:

We will be receiving and considering candidate applications on an on-going basis similar to the "rolling admissions" process followed by many universities. We anticipate this will work something like this:

  • We will be receiving candidates' paperwork from Randy Dales (Canon to the Ordinary) every two weeks.

  • We will review this paperwork right away, and will discern whether to proceed with a Skype interview. Candidates will be notified of this first discernment in a timely manner.

  • Skype interviews will be held with the selected candidates right away, and both the Committee and these candidates will discern whether to proceed.

  • If the Skype interview goes well and both the candidate and the Committee discern to proceed, two Committee members will be appointed to conduct an interview at the candidate's home church. This interview will be scheduled as soon as possible.

  • If the on-site interview goes well and both the candidate and the Committee discern to proceed, the candidate will be recommended to the vestry right away.

  • The vestry will invite the selected candidate(s) to Exeter for an on-site interview, and, with the candidate(s), will discern a call to be our next rector in a timely manner.

  • Upon electing a candidate, the vestry will notify the Bishop, who will make the call. Upon accepting the call, the newly elected rector will negotiate a Letter of Agreement with the wardens and vestry.

  • The new rector will then be announced to the congregation.
